It consists of seven propylene glycol units connected linearly by ether bonds, and bears a primary hydroxyl group at each terminus, endowing it with high reactivity. The compound is typically synthesized via ring-opening polymerization of propylene oxide , using an alkaline catalyst to control polymerization degree, followed by purification to achieve high purity (≥95%).
