LA-PEG8-COOH (Lipoic Acid-Polyethylene Glycol 8-Carboxylic Acid) is a functionalized polymer compound composed of three structural parts: the terminal lipoic acid moiety, which contains a disulfide five-membered ring and endows it with antioxidant and biological activities; the intermediate PEG8 (Polyethylene Glycol 8) segment, which provides excellent water solubility and biocompatibility; and the carboxyl group (-COOH) at the other end, which serves as a reaction site and can condense with amine or alcohol groups to form amide or ester bonds. The production process typically employs stepwise condensation, first synthesizing an amide intermediate between lipoic acid and PEG8, then achieving functionalization through carboxyl activation. This compound is widely used in the construction of drug delivery systems, surface modification of biomaterials, and assembly of PROTAC molecules. Its modular design allows flexible regulation of molecular size and reactivity to meet complex biomedical needs.
